I've never really been one to celebrate Valentine's Day. When I was younger I appreciated receiving those cute, little v-day candies from my Dad; you know, those ones in the white box that had little love messages on them.
And as I grew older, I don't know, I was never really fond of the holiday - but I'm always in support of love -- a universal language that can be understood without sound.

Its so easy to get lost in the chocolate sauce of Valentine's day when you're watching others get large, expensive expressions of love or are wondering why you didn't get anything at all.

But love is not just about receiving - love is, more so, importantly about giving. Have you ever given someone something and you felt just as, or more excited to do so as they did receiving? Remember that feeling? (if you answered no - fix 👏🏾 that!👏🏾)

One of my favorite movies is "The Best Man Holiday," (I re-watch it every Christmas season!) and in one scene, Harper asks the guys what were 3 words that would define the values that shaped them and Lance responded "God, Family & Football."
.
When I think about "Love," as deep as it is; the older I get, the meaning is so much more clearer for me and can be described in 3 words also:
God, Family, & Myself.
.
I've realized more and more that through the constant changes of life, these are the most purest, secure, comfortable and genuine connections.
God's love is unconditional - self explanatory.
.
And while many family members leave you guessing which of you were adopted; when you look beyond that (like how you can talk to your sibling bad but let someone else try it -☝🏾Its a problem!) you'll see that regardless, you're bonded by something almost, unexplainable.
.
And as a mom now, (wow), this goes even deeper! To have a family of my own; a husband that loves me, flaws and all and a son that sees me as the apple of his eye - the love is indescribable (treasure them)!
.
And the hardest of them all, (believe it or not)..........is loving yourself.
.
We are our own biggest critic: judging our own appearance, comparing ourselves to others and adding unnecessary pressure.
.

After you're done giving or receiving don't forget self-love.
.
Whether that's sitting in silence to be one with your thoughts and actually exploring your feelings orto write a list of things you currently love about yourself orto get dressed up and treat yourself because it makes you feel good or even to hug a loved one just a little longer than normal with a slightly tighter squeeze.
.
Do something today that gives you a feeling as sweet and sugary as those Valentine's Day treats you got/gave yesterday!
.
Let me know in the comment section what you plan on doing to spread love! 🥰

Self love is such a toughie, I find it even harder to do as a mum. This is a great read pulling on inspiration. I’m off to the shop to treat myself to cake. 🥰

Self love it soo important! ❤️ I am definitely better version of myself when I take care of myself first. My friends and family win ultimately cuz I’m typically in a better mood and much happier.
